Podcamp Ohio Wrap-Up

Just got back from Podcamp Ohio a bit ago (ok the Podcamp AFTERPARTY) and wanted to throw up a blog with some of the highlights from the conference…

…BUT since I didn’t take notes, I figured the “highlights” would be the things I felt were valuable enough to tweet. Yeah I know it’s lame-ish, but it’s all I’ve got. Sound fair? Groovy.

*** Who is your audience: B2B, B2C, Consumer, media? Male/Female? Old/young? American/international? Socioeconomic, religious, political status? How do they find YOU?

*** What does your audience want from you? Friendship, knowledge, ideas, inspiration, entertainment, news?

*** “Powered by WordPress” on your blog? Get rid of it! Hackers look for WordPress blogs to hack. You are advertising that you run WordPress

*** I won a USB Christmas Tree from @theguyspodcast lol – FTW! cheryl-harrison-podcamp-ohio-the-guys-podcast

*** Use the same 5 or so descriptive keywords consistently across all your social networks to build your brand & search ranking

*** The keyword research presentation outline from @searchcircus is online here http://tinyurl.com/kko6nt

*** Don’t pick keywords with 1k+ results on Google Adwords, WordTracker, etc – pick keywords under 300 so you can compete

*** (Not educational but hilarious/creepy Tweet) #creepyconferencepickuplines “I wish I had a time machine to so I could know you when I was younger” AND “I thought next time I saw you would be in a dream”

(Seriously, someone said that to me. AWKWARD TURTLE.)

Anyway, Podcamp was fantastic, I learned a ton from brilliant folks and had a blast with old and new favorites. All of the sessions I attended were inspirational or educational in some way… I wish I had taken notes, but I was too busy learning! Thanks so much to the organizers ( @AngeloMandato, @DoctorAnonymous, @MerryCricket and all the other volunteers) and the great sponsors sponsors (The Ohio State University Center For The Study And Teaching Of Writing, Blubrry.com, Doctor Anonymous Podcast, Circle Of Seven Productions Book Trailers and Marketing, AssistCoach.com, blip.tv, TechSmith, SpaceBlue and Avitae) for pulling together an awesome conference!

I took notes in the sessions I attended with Evernote. I will post them later today. I learned a lot, met some new friends and followers and really enjoyed following #pco09 on Twitter. I wish all of my edtech friends could be there to witness the collaboration and sharing.
