Yesterday I wrote a blog post about group buying discount sites. No more than 10 minutes after I clicked “publish,” I received this phone call:
Followed shortly by this e-mail:
Hi Cheryl,
Thank you so much for including us in your blog! It turned out really well. My twitter manager and I have forwarded the blog to the entire company. Thank you for including us in such a wonderful write up!

And right after that, Eversave retweeted the link.

If you read the post, you’ll know that it was not about Eversave. It was a very general post about online group buying discount sites. Yeah, I mention them, but I also mention their competitors in the same breath, with no weight or preference given to any. I mention the most popular group buying site in the title of the post.
Guess what, it wasn’t Eversave. It was Groupon.
But Groupon didn’t call me. Groupon didn’t drop me a quick e-mail. Groupon didn’t retweet the post. Groupon didn’t leave a comment. Brianna from Eversave did all of the above before I even had a chance to proof the post.
Wonder which group buying site I’m going to think of first next time a client asks?
It only takes a second to say “thank you.”

Great post! I couldn’t agree more. I’ve sited many different authors and even send a message to let them know I’ve cited them in a post. I can count on 1 hand the number of thank yous I have received.

I completely agree with everyone here that simple manners are lost now-a- days especially in business. I am so glad that my mother and grandmother did such a good job raising me.
