I finally got my iPhone, because I decided takin’ a big bite of Apple was healthier than smoking.

Seth Lilly says:
I don’t know if you have a Dropbox account (www.dropbox.com), but they have a really nice iPhone client that’s free.

Shop Savvy does not work as well as RedLaser. I have both and ShopSavvy did not pick up the bar codes where RedLaser did and much quicker when it did recognize it.
I got iCatchAll which has a flashlight in it that even changes colors but also has 27 other gadgets too.
I have Kindle but also have Stanza which has many more free books than Kindle.
I tried Bump but replaced it with Share It! because it works better and has more features to it.

Not free, but I’d be remiss not to mention Things ($9.99) for GTD management. Worth every penny. And since you’re attached to Tweetdeck, I won’t bother telling you how awesome Tweetie ($2.99) is.

Like I told you yesterday… SHAZAAM and AroundMe!!!!!
Dec 02, 2009, 6:01 pmCheryl says:
I alreayd have Shazam and I have 4 other apps that do the same thing that AroundMe does, lol

I still think Twitbird (there’s pro and free, and free is plenty good) is superior to Tweetdeck for a few reasons. 1, Tweetdeck occasionally loses tweets, especially in groups. One minute I see something from my chick, the next time I go in, it’s gone completely from the timeline. It happens enough and has turned off a few people to the client I know.
2, and this is the biggest, if you look at recent tweets in someone’s timeline, you CANNOT click on any links. This works fine in twitbird and probably other clients.
3, No option to read links later/send to instapaper. You read them now or you don’t. And because of #2, going back to them later is almost impossible.
Those 3 issues make tweetdeck near useless for me at times. The only saving grace is that the newest version lets you post to FB and Twitter at the same time.
Other than that, you need Stanza and search for GotMalk online

oh and yellow/white pages are very helpful apps, along with mywireless where you can pay ur bill from ur phone and check your account information and such. Pandora is pretty amazing. The FML app is a MUST, lol. Those are the only other main ones I have besides games.

Nice list of apps there. I will add some to my list of apps (instapaper, photoshop, yelp, boxcar) .
Dec 02, 2009, 7:45 pmOne thing I would add to the ones I mentioned on twitter (although it’s not really an app per se) is Google Wave. You can basically save it to your screen like you would a bookmark except when it opens, it opens up as an app would. I think by now you have a Wave account, if not let me know I have invites left.
Cheryl says:
Thanks, Damilola. I’ve had wave for a couple months now, but I haven’t really found a use for it, so I probably won’t be shifting that over to my iPhone until I figure out what the heck to do with it

I use Dropbox, Evernote and a few others. Great stuff. Jott is also another one for high productivity. There’s a free service, but also paid.
As for back end business stuff, check out Freshbooks, Shoeboxed - two very cool apps that save me tons of time every day.
Major FAIL - LinkedIn App for iPhone. The search feature is terrible, boot times are uber slow and it crashes often.
I was on Tweetdeck for iPhone, but got frustrated with the slow load times and constant crashes (on a 3G, not 3GS)
For Twitter, I have been digging Tweetie 2, which makes using twitter very similar to using text messaging. That said, as time as gone on from the release, the application is starting to have some bugs.
Cheryl - glad to hear you traded the smokes for the new side arm
Good stuff.

My go-to list (some free, some cheap) includes: Things, Grocery IQ, DirecTV, mSecure, Starbucks (I don’t drink coffee but have a lot of meetings there and it lets me find a store and email it easily to my contact), AIM, RedLaser and Regator.
Dec 02, 2009, 8:59 pmHello Vino says:
Congrats on the new iPhone, Cheryl, and thanks for downloading the free Hello Vino app!
There are a couple other free wine apps (Clinks and Drync) that let you keep track of your wines, so you can remember which ones you like.
Cheers!
Rick from Hello Vino

[...] Cheryl wrote a nice little post about 30 some odd free apps to do most anything you need to do. Most of which I use. Although I thought it was worth mentioning a few more. Not all are free though. [...]
