Delicious.com: PR’s secret weapon

My friend and social media thoughtleader Lara Kretler spoke Tuesday at SummitUp in Dayton, OH on the value of Delicious.com for Public Relations pros. She gave some great insight into using the site for more than just bookmarking - pitch pages, blogger lists, clip reports, constant content for your RSS subscribers and more. I had to share it with you - hopefully it will help you rethink your PR outreach.

Check out her slides:

Sample pitch page: Culinary Ohio
Sample clip report: Not in Ohio

Are you using Delicious currently? Do these slides make you rethink your Delicious, social media and overall PR strategy?

I was very surprised with Lara’s extensive use of Delicious. From a link-juice perspective, it is not one of the best ways to popularize or syndicate your content in a natural search sense. However, the way that Lara uses it reveals a totally different way of looking at social bookmarking. She is able to use it to manage link campaigns, organize categories of work and easily distribute content for her clients. It definitely is a unique use of the tool and makes me question some of the inflexibility of Google docs, MS Project and other tools of the trade that I employ. Thank for sharing up Lara’s presentation Cheryl!

I missed this presentation at SummitUP, because I was in an other great breakout session, but Delicious.com popped up on my radar a few months ago, and I have been digging for more info. Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks, Cheryl. I also blogged about this topic last year for those who may want a bit more exposition on some of these techniques - http://www.larakretler.com/index.php/2008/09/pr-is-delicious/
