Starting roughly 15 minutes after I got engaged on June 8, 2009, people started asking me, to my great annoyance, how the wedding planning process was coming. More than a year and a half later, and less than four months from my wedding date (May 14, 2011) I find myself giving the same answer that I did then… Eh, I’ll get there. A few months ago, people thought this was cute. But with the number of days to the big day down to the double digits, people think I’m screwed.
I mean, I have the “big” things. I have a venue for the ceremony and reception. I have a photographer. I have a caterer. A dress. A DJ, a cake (booze-infused cupcakes to be precise), a guest list. Oh, and a groom.
I have a florist. She was the 3rd we met with, highly referred to by a friend, but by that point if I had to sit through one more consultation about themes and moods and ambiance, I was going to smash my pretty centerpiece vases over somebody’s skull – so I pretty much told her I want stargazer lilies and I don’t care what else, have at it.
I (sort of) have invitations – one of my awesome Twitter followers and dedicated 3 Things About Cheryl fans is helping me piece together custom invites. I just haven’t seen them yet. Or ordered them yet. And most certainly haven’t mailed them out yet. Because, well, everyone but me and my mom is going to throw the damn thing away, anyway.
I do NOT have hair and makeup, wedding bands, a registry, shoes, jewelry, a hotel block, a rehearsal dinner (whatever that is), a dance floor, favors, or any desire to spend any effort worrying about having, or in my case not yet having, these things.
It’s not that I don’t care about my wedding.
I’d just rather spend time with my fiance than worry about fucking china patterns.

Also, I’m sort of banking on David Tutera showing up in a few weeks and working out the details. Thanks in advance, David

No worries Social Butterfly! There’s just a couple big ones on that remaining list. The rest you can do on line/phone in a day. Seriously. I think. It’s been a long time since my wedding took place so maybe you can’t rely on what I’m saying…
Did you ever consider eloping? #just sayin’

I know right where you’re at! Wedding planning is a bitch. Lucky for me that my fiance is a bleeping machine when it comes to that stuff. All I have to do is give and arm and a leg for the portion I have to pay for and give her dad a lifetime of gratitude for paying for the rest! No big deal, eh!

If you wanna save some cash, purchase wedding bands on Etsy. Most jewelers can do custom sizes and pretty much tailor it to style. I was UBER pleased w/ mine.
