Shit I Did in 2018

About five years ago I started sharing recaps of the shit I did each month (originally I was doing it on a weekly basis but reached the inevitable conclusion that I don’t do that much shit) and then I must have died around June of 2016 because I never posted another update but now I’m back with a big pile of shit that happened in 2018.

  • On June 30 I became Mrs… well actually I’m still Cheryl Harrison but I married my favorite person Scott and now he’ll have to go to court to get rid of me. HA. (614 Magazine did a cute feature on our wedding which took place at Rockmill Brewery.)
  • CityPulse named me one of the top young professionals to know in Columbus.
  • My alma matter Capital University granted me the Distinguished Young Alumnus award.
  • The Breathing Association, a local lung health focused nonprofit, honored me with the 2018 Carrie Nelson Black Volunteer Service Award.
  • The readers of 614 Magazine voted me the Best Blogger in Columbus.
  • I traveled to Iceland and Norway so now I identify as viking.
  • But not really cause I got one of those DNA tests and I’m Irish and British AF.
  • Through our 4th Annual 24-Hour Board Game Marathon and a few other supporting events, my Beers & Board Games Club raised over $10,000 this year for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, bringing our total raised for the hospital to date to $30,000.
  • My company speechbubble turned 5 (and moved into a new office) and I am immensely grateful I still get to do stuff I like to do everyday — usually without wearing pants.
  • My co-founders and I launched Volume 4 of the Columbus Ale Trail after record redemption levels of Volume 3 in 2017.
  • My friend and mentor Keith Speers featured me on his new podcast, 200 Proof Life.
  • I also made appearances on All Sides with Ann Fisher (twice), Good Day Columbus, Cbus Chic, and WTVN. For anyone who cares (hi, mom) I archive all my interviews here.
  • I wrote another article for the magazine Ohio On Tap about hazy IPAs
  • And I wrote a TON of shit on Drink Up Columbus but a few you should check out are my profiles on Olentangy River Brewing, Antiques on High, Actual Brewing Clintonville, Echo Spirits, Somewhere in Particular, Uprising Meadsworks, Nocterra Brewing, Zen Bee Meadery, Craft & Vinyl, Parsons North Brewing and High Bank Distillery; and my travel piece on Lake Erie wineries.
  • Columbus Alive wrote a very kind profile on me for the seven year (!!!) Drink Up Columbus anniversary. We’ve published more than 1,500 articles since 2011. That’s a lot of booze news.
  • I turned 30. I don’t wanna talk about it.
  • I got a dog! I DO wanna talk about it. We were just supposed to foster her for two nights but there was no way we could give her back. We named her Reese cause she’s a sweet little peanut butter cup and you can follow her on Instagram because I am that person.
  • Have a great New Year’s Eve and cheers to a great 2019! Lots of love from me and Reese.

    1. “The readers of 614 Magazine voted me the Best Blogger in Columbus.”

See, I told you you were world famous in Columbus.

Glad to see your…er…shit is doing well. And you should own “being that person” – take great pride in being “Sappily married, dog loving Cheryl”. ?
